It started with a cinematic vision
The Sail Weaver began with a vision, one of those things that just pops into my head at times. Occasionally it is a bit of conversation or many a description of something. On very rare occasions, they come fully cinematic. (Yes, even with music!) The Sail Weaver was one of those movie-like events in my head. I saw a huge sailing ship moving away from a space station, Earth glowing in the background and dragons wheeling around the ship as it pulled away. Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 was playing (specifically the Allegro vivace).
Once all that started playing in my head, questions arose.
How is there a tall sailing ship in space? The decks looked open.
How are dragons flying in space?
Why do the sails sparkle?
Those questions led to the beginning of the world of The Sail Weaver. It is a world I truly love, a mix of magic and science, of sailing ships and space stations. In many ways it takes bits of everything I love and puts them all together in a coherent way.
